Program Overview & Philosophy

Program Overview & Philosophy

The Burnt Ranch Athletics Program allows for students to participate in varying athletics endeavors in a positive and safe environment. Coaches/ASES staff strive to provide students with the opportunity to develop individual skills, increase knowledge of the game and highlight the importance of teamwork. The responsibility of being a part of a team reinforces lifelong skills such as time management, goal setting and perseverance. The athletic program also focuses on the players' development of mutual respect for teammates as well as opponents, which is a key component of sportsmanship. The BRS ASES program defines sportsmanship as the fair and generous behavior or treatment of others and understanding of and commitment to fair play, ethical behavior, integrity and general goodwill towards teammates and opponents. The overarching goal is to produce student athletes who have the self discipline to maintain perspective, poise and work towards the team goals. While organized athletics are inherently a competitive activity in which the goal is to best your opponent, every student athlete is entitled to be coached towards individual improvement and equitable game time.
